The first female chief minister of India was Sucheta Kripalani. From the Kanpur district, she was chosen as Uttar Pradesh’s fourth chief minister, holding office from 1963 to 1967. She was a well-known politician, administrator, and freedom fighter who took part in both the Quit India movement and the Partition riots. She was a contributor to the section of the Indian Constitution that was written. The All India Women Congress was started by her in 1940, and she served as its first president.
