Rajaraja, an emperor of the Chola people who ruled from 985 CE to 1014 CE, is frequently referred to as Rajaraja the Great or Mummudi Chola. He is known for restoring the Chola hegemony and securing its dominance throughout the Indian Ocean during his time as the most powerful Tamil king in South India. The Brihadisvara Temple, a Shiva-dedicated structure, was erected by Rajaraja at Thanjavur in 1010 CE.
