Adi Shankara, also known as Adi Shankaracharya, was an Indian Vedic scholar and teacher who lived in the eighth century. His writings offer an integrative interpretation of the sastras with liberating self-knowledge at their core, synthesizing the Advaita Vedanta teachings of the time. The temple was initially constructed by Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya in the eighth century A.D. It is situated close to the location of an even earlier temple constructed by the Pandavas.
