Laxman Vithu Patil, a builder, built the temple. Deubai Patil, an affluent agribusiness woman, provided the money for the construction. Deaubai constructed the temple for Ganesha to bestow children on other infertile women because she was childless owing to infertility. On the directive of his teacher, Ramakrishna Jambhekar Maharaj, a follower of the Hindu saint Akkalkot Swami Samarth, buried two heavenly idols in front of the temple’s presiding deity. According to legend, a Mandar tree appeared there with a Svayambhu Ganesha in its branches 21 years after the icons were interred, just as Swami Samartha had predicted.
