About: Mette Frederiksen has been leader of the Social Democrats since June 2015. She is the youngest and second woman to hold the position of prime minister in Danish history. Frederiksen’s father was a typographer, and her mother was a teacher. As a teenager, she campaigned to preserve rain forests, protect whales, and end apartheid.
Frederiksen attended the Aalborghus Gymnasium. She holds a bachelor’s degree in administration and social science from Aalborg University and a master’s degree in African studies from the University of Copenhagen.
