On July 25, 2007, Pratibha Patil took office as India’s 12th president and the country’s first female head of state.
From 2004 until 2007, Pratibha Devisingh Patil also served as Rajasthan’s governor. She was the UPA’s candidate for president of India. She was the 12th President of India and a politician and attorney from India from 2007 until 2012. She became India’s first woman president. The Indian National Congress is where she belongs. Between 1991 and 1996, Pratibha Patil served in the Lok Sabha. At the age of 27, she won the Jalgaon seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1962.
