Who Won the $1.58 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot?

With a gold Mega Ball of 14, the winning numbers were 13, 19, 20, 32, and 33.
The Florida lottery reports that the winning ticket was purchased at a Publix in Neptune Beach.

If the jackpot is verified to be $1.58 billion, it will surpass the previous Mega Millions record of $1.537 billion won in South Carolina in 2018, according to the lottery.

According to Mega Millions, the owner of the winning ticket from Tuesday might opt to split the prize into 29 equal annual installments or get a lump sum payout estimated to be over $783 million, both before taxes.

A $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in California last year set the all-time record for the highest lottery jackpot.

There were other large winners on other tickets sold for the lottery on Tuesday.

By matching the first five numbers and turning on the optional Megaplier, which is available in most states for an additional $1 purchase, two tickets bought in Florida and North Carolina each won $2 million.

By matching the first five numbers without the Megaplier, five tickets each won at least $1 million. These tickets were sold in West Virginia, Texas (where there were two winners), Pennsylvania, and California.

The California State Lottery estimates that the Hilmar, California, ticket will be worth $3.38 million. That’s because California’s prizes are different from the fixed amounts shown on the Mega Millions website and rely on the number of winners and ticket sales.

“The Florida homeowner who won the MASSIVE $1.58 billion Mega Millions reward deserves congratulations. The California Lottery said in a post to X, the site formerly known as Twitter, that a lucky ticket sold at Super Mac Food & Gas in Hilmar matched five numbers, barely missing the Mega number, and earned $3,383,371.
For months, the Mega Millions jackpot had been increasing. It was last won in New York on April 18 before Tuesday. The jackpot increases to $20 million on Friday.
